This is the short resume of Camiel Schoonens, a husband and proud father to three children currently living and working from the Netherlands. In my current role I’m leading a global Product and Technology workforce in Worldline. My teams are responsible for the design and development of eCommerce and In-Person payment products. These products are used by more than 150.000 merchants and millions of consumers on a daily basis.
People working with me describe me as an energetic leader, as someone who guides teams into the future and leads the way by setting an example.
I see myself as a culture builder and driver of change who’s at best in an international context.
I love working in a fast paced, execution focussed environment of Product and Technology enthousiasts.

What I bring to work
As a business leader I help my people navigate the increasingly complicated process of launching a product while dealing with technology challenges along the way.
I articulate a compelling vision that aligns with stakeholder needs and the overall business strategy. I ensure that this vision is understood from the boardroom to the people executing it, regardless of where this execution is happening around the globe.
I strive to understand the challenges and concerns of my team. I create a collaborative work environment that is forward leaning and encourages innovation and experimentation while ensuring that team members feel valued, trusted and supported.
- Decision Making
I apply quick and effective decision making to create a competitive advantage. By combining both Product and Technology knowledge I balance the need for innovation with the need for stability and reliability.
I build strong relationships in and outside of my span of control. I foster a culture of collaboration to encourage cross-functional communication and teamwork.
I take accountability for the success of the perimeter that I lead. I’m transparent about the progress of projects and take responsibility for any setbacks or failures. I expect the same from the people that work with me.

Let’s make sure to have Camiel in that meeting, because he will be able to bring that delicate topic in a peaceful way on a high abstraction level, without stranding in details.

I appreciate the feedback as such, as well as the fact that you do proactively share feedback. It most certainly promotes a culture in my liking
Sofia AlbertssonHead of Commercial Strategy
In summer 2018, when emotions where flying high because of some technical mess-up, you stepped in. I still remember this as one of the best examples of good management. You took responsibility without asking first whose duty it was. Thank you!

It was a pleasure to work together with Camiel, initially as peers and, later on, reporting into him. Camiel is enthusiastic about his work, which is infectious, and he has an extraordinary easiness to build interpersonal relations.

In an environment where people are often out for themselves, I’ve admired your willingness to see the bigger picture, and provide clarity. Particularly when having to take difficult decisions. I’ve also always felt supported and understood.
